BIOGRAPHY

ASANDRA, a bold abstract painter, is originally from New York where she studied at Parsons School of Design. She had her first solo exhibit in New York in 1990 at Zohra Gallery in Chelsea, NY. In 1991 Asandra moved to Miami, Florida, exhibiting extensively over the following 19 years. She is included in the groundbreaking book, Miami Contemporary Artists (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 2007) and was considered part of the new artistic renaissance in South Florida. In 2011, Asandra relocated to California and currently resides in Carpinteria in Santa Barbara County.

From 2012 – 2015, Asandra was a member of both, Inkspots, a printmakers collective based in Ventura, CA and Santa Barbara Printmakers. During that time, she produced one-of-a-kind monoprints and photopolymer etchings (also known as solar plates).

Her work is in the collection of Marriott, and Renaissance Hotels, and The Omni Int’l Resort and Spa, Orlando; FL. Exhibitions include the Fort Lauderdale Art Museum, FL, Andrews Art Museum, NC, The Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum and Channing Peak Gallery, in Santa Barbara, CA and WallspaceLA, Los Angeles, CA. She is featured in the Spring/Summer 2018 issue of Carpinteria Magazine.

Asandra’s paintings are inspired by California’s undulating landscape and golden light. Although abstract, they reflect the topography, luminosity, and color variations found in nature. Out of these sources, bold geometries are achieved, resulting in dynamic imagery both symbolic and decorative.
